I appreciate the reasons the Member of Parliament for Naivasha had in mind when he worked tirelessly to make sure that the Alcohol bill is passed and implemented. He argues that our youth are becoming drunks and alcoholics, as such they are losing their mantra. They are not productive, hardworking or creative but destructive and lazy.
I do not disagree but there is also a business perspective to this.
Businesses in the alcohol industry are losing out big time. I saw a feature on how the laws have affected business in one of the local networks. Businesses that used to open the whole day are losing out on potential customers due to the law of time. Translate this into lost sales revenue and tell me how it feels.
Well it sucks, right?!
The interesting thing is the innovative ideas that these bars have come up with to beat the laws and make some money for themselves. Customers are told to use the back doors to access their services. The front doors obviously remain closed. Funny? I think it is brilliant. Life is too hard.
Ututho is the talk of day and night in Kenya today. Mututho is the man behind all this.
I guess we all have something to talk about when taking that beer or spirit.
Be blessed today and respect the law lest you get arrested by the men in blue and enjoy a meal of badly cooked cabbage and Ugali over the weekend!
Have a great Friday people!
